WE’RE ALL STILL HERE, THEN …
Ring out those bells!
I actually managed to stay up until past midnight – and as a result saw in the New Year for the first time in over a decade. I then texted both my kids, wishing them a prosperous and successful next twelve months. My daughter Grace, in Sydney in the late morning of New Year’s Day, responded immediately:
“Thanks for that … but why are you wishing me all the best for 2012?”
I had meant 2010 of course. Unless, that is, I was by any chance subconsciously referring to any ambitions she might have had of representing her country at the London Olympics. So I texted back again, trying to make a joke of it by blaming my dementia.
Subsequently, overnight, I began worrying that she might have reached that conclusion already.
